Smallest-room refrigerant check
In a VRF system the entire charge can leak into any room served by an indoor unit. Calculate the potential concentration in the smallest room.
What if the limit is exceeded?
The concentration check keeps the refrigerant amount in a room below the level accepted as safe should a leak occur. If the limit is exceeded, the design considers:
- Splitting the system into several circuits with smaller charges.
- Serving that room from another system or a different indoor unit type.
- Enlarging the effective volume via a permanent opening to an adjacent space (under the standard's conditions).
- Additional measures such as leak detectors, alarms, automatic shut-off valves or mechanical ventilation.
R32 is mildly flammable (A2L). Its allowable charge depends on room area, indoor unit mounting height and the measures taken, under separate rules. This tool shows the concentration for R32 but does not give a compliance verdict; send us your project.
CO₂ equivalent = charge (kg) × GWP / 1000. Stationary air conditioning equipment at or above 5 t CO₂e carries periodic leak-check and record obligations under the Turkish F-gas regulation. The check interval is set in the maintenance plan per the current regulation.
Worth knowing
Around AC and VRF, we also do all of this.
Let's run the refrigerant check for your project.
Send it with the pipe lengths and room list; we finalise the charge calculation and measures on site.
