Not all rooms peak at the same time (façades, usage hours). The outdoor unit is sized for total load × this factor; move it towards 1 for single-façade buildings or ones fully occupied at the same hour.

Indoor unit sizes (kW): 1.7 · 2.2 · 2.8 · 3.6 · 4.5 · 5.6 · 7.1 · 9 · 11.2 · 14 · 16 · 22.4 · 28. Rooms above 14 kW are split across several indoor units for air distribution. Outdoor unit kW ≈ HP × 2.8. The connection ratio (indoor total / outdoor) is kept between 50% and 130%. Sizes and limits vary by brand.

How to read it

Total load, connected capacity and the outdoor unit

Room load: area × unit load for the use × region × sun factor. Example: a 40 m² office in Marmara with average sun is 40 × 115 W/m² ≈ 4.6 kW; the next indoor unit size up is 5.6 kW.

Connected capacity: the nominal total of the selected indoor units. It exceeds the total load because sizes are rounded up.

Outdoor unit: the smallest size that covers total load × diversity while keeping the connection ratio under 130%. A very low ratio means the outdoor unit is oversized; a very high one means indoor units can't all run at full capacity together.

This is a preliminary estimate

Fresh air loads, glazing ratios, internal heat gains, pipe length and height-difference capacity corrections, heating capacity checks and brand selection tables are not included. Final selection is made with the site survey and design calculation.
